Denim and Pointed Heels

Sometimes it’s nice to just stick on a pair of jeans rather than prance around in pretty dresses and today was one of those days!  I’ve had a lot of problem with jeans recently, in that I have bought 3 pairs from Select Fashion and the zip has broken on every single pair.  When I was younger my go to place for jeans was Dorothy Perkins, but since I had some vouchers from Evans leftover, I thought why not give them a try. I am so glad that I did!

Valentines Day Date With Curvissa*

When Curvissa got in contact with me to see if I wanted to be involved in a 5-way review of the Ostrich Textured Clutch Bag*, I knew immediately what I wanted to style it for!  Valentines Day is approaching this weekend and although my husband and I don’t really celebrate it, we are going out for a meal at Nandos (my choice) during the next few days. I’m a firm believer that you should show your significant other that you love them every single day, not just February 14th!

Stepping out in Style with George from Asda!

As soon as I lifted my spending ban, I felt completely relieved.  I also felt like I had suffered withdrawal symptoms (yes I know, this is bad!) and after 23 days of not spending, I gave up. This quickly followed with a shopping trip to my nearest Primark and just to wind me up even more, I couldn’t find anything I loved enough to buy! I wandered around the shops, feeling a little glum and had nearly run out of places to visit when I suddenly thought, what about Asda? I needed to get some food anyway and sometimes you can pick up some lovely clothes.

You Can Never Have Too Many Floral Dresses!

I think I might have a bit of an obsession – floral dresses!  Recently I’ve tried to change things around a bit with my style and wear more suitable clothing for the weather but no matter how many times I dig my jumpers out of the wardrobe, I always seem to get back to a floral dress.  I even find ways to make them winter proof, like adding a warm cardigan or smart coat.  I purchased this floral dress a few months ago from Select as it was a style I had previously worn in a mint green colour and I knew the colours would be perfect to wear during the Autumn.

Edgy Steampunk Autumn Florals

Primark has become one of my favourite places to check out, mainly because of the products changing so quickly but also the price. You just can’t go wrong!  Primark was never a place that I could shop in easily due to the sizing being all over the place but it’s become my new guilty pleasure as you’ll have noticed on my Instagram if you follow me!

I first spotted this skirt (and statement necklace) on the Primark website when they released a Q&A session with the gorgeous Victoria from – it wasn’t available in stores but Victoria had chosen it to showcase some of the new Autumn/Winter range and I was desperate to get my hands on the floaty organza number.  I ended up visiting a couple of different Primark stores multiple times, when one evening I finally spotted it and had to get my hands on it! When I got it home I didn’t have a clue how to accessorise it.  I stumbled across a couple of looks that worked really well with clothes that I already had in my wardrobe when I suddenly had a brainwave… What about my underbust corset!?

Floral Romance and Blue Denim

It’s taken me a while to get decent photos of this outfit, but I think it was worth the wait. With all of the dismal weather we have been having, a floral dress is the last thing I’ve wanted to put on but yesterday we had a spell of sunshine and it so happens that I was also going to see one of my friends (who is an awesome photographer) – perfect timing! I have lusted after this Pink Floral Print Chiffon Dress ever since it was launched by Yours Clothing. Part of the Hayley Hasselhoff Loves range, Yours really shined with this collection and there were a number of pieces I was coveting. I knew it would be the kind of dress that could be worn to posh events with a smart jacket or faux fur coat for winter, or dressed down with a denim jacket / cardigan. I figured that the denim jacket was a safer option with the interchangable weather and I think this look works really well.

OOTD: Select Fashion Style

Normally when I go shopping I have a terrible habit of finding one key piece of clothing and styling it within the same store so that I have a complete outfit before I leave the shop.  This outfit of the day was actually made from 3 different trips to Select Fashion by chance and without really considering the rest of my wardrobe but I absolutely love it!  It’s perfect for Summer with on trend colours and it’s also quite lightweight which is great for any lurking heatwaves.

I have used layers to build up this outfit of the day so during the day you could potentially lose the cardigan and keep it for cooler evenings, but because I don’t like the tops of my arms I like to keep them covered up and out of sight.

A Little Shopping Spree with Mummy FH

Recently, I took my mother on a little mini shopping spree to try and find her something she wanted for her birthday.  Of course, that meant that I found something too!  It’s like there is an unwritten rule that when I go shopping with the purpose of “not” buying myself something, I spy plenty of outfits, accessories and shoes that I drool over!

We had a lovely few hours. First, we headed into New Look.  I must admit there was nothing in there that I really liked the first time I looked around.  That’s very unusual for me as when I am on their website I always find stuff that I love.  We decided to go and grab a quick lunch as we had made the fatal mistake of going out at lunchtime.  After filling up on a yummy jacket potato we ventured into Yours Clothing.  I spotted a gorgeous floral swimdress but considering I can’t swim I thought that maybe £40 on a swimdress was a bit steep.  I’m trying to learn but at the moment stick to the comfort of a noodle float.  I look a sight in the pool!

We visited the usual places, Primark, Marks and Spencer, Dorothy Perkins and Select where I found a beautiful mint green floral skater dress.  On the hanger I wasn’t quite sure but once I’d put it on in the changing room I was sold.  And at only £14.99, you really can’t complain can you! My Inspiration & Red Skinny Jeans

I don’t know if I have any readers to my little place on the internet yet, but I’m having lots of fun sorting through my wardrobes and drawers putting together outfits for my soon to be shot outfit of the day etc.  It’s been such terrible weather here the last few days I haven’t had chance to get outside with the camera but I’ve plenty planned!  You may be wondering why I decided to do a plus size fashion blog – it’s something I have been interested in for a long time, especially since the clothing lines for curvier women have become more plentiful.  I stumbled across another couple of blogs almost by accident while searching for ASOS Curve in google.  Both by absolutely gorgeous girls who have their own unique styles.  Cupcakes Clothes is run by a girl called Georgina and I absolutely love her cute kitsch dresses and outfits of the day posts.  Dee from Pearls, Lace and Ruffles has a style I can really see myself in – I love the flesh tones in her dresses and with a bit more confidence I’d love to wear lighter colours.  I do tend to stick to dark or bold colours but I have been jumping out of my comfort zone somewhat lately…

Which brings me onto the next part of my update today.  I have RED SKINNY JEANS… well technically they are Jeggings as all of the jeans I have tried on haven’t been long enough in the body.  I went into my local “Select” and there they were.  Slightly worried about what they would look like, I grabbed some matching tops and tried them on in the changing room and loved it all so much I ended up with 2 new tops and the red jeggings.  Got a size 18, even though they were stretchy which looking back was maybe a bad idea as while wearing them today, I spent most of the day pulling them back up as they kept falling down lol.  I’ll be sure to post a photo when I wear them again for an outfit of the day!
